In the writing community, we all write something every day. Keyboard sounds never stop, sometimes we get pains or “writer’s cramp.” Just as the world does not stop revolving, writers do not stop writing because they do it with great enthusiasm. At this point, I would like to suggest a few programs and extensions that can save you some of the workload while writing article or story. If you’re ready, let’s start…

1. EDS Google Books Downloader: This feature enables you to download millions of books, to scan all open pages, to take its picture and convert to PDF.

2. Harzing: Publish or Perish: With this software, you can print out the results of your search on Google Scholar in Excel and Word format. This is actually a kind of academic search engine. You can also examine the articles, citations, and indexes of the names that come to your mind.

3. Sumnotes: Under the headline of “summarize PDF annotations”, this site provides you to extract the statements you highlighted in bulk.

4. Grammarly / Hemingway / Editorial Calendar / Prowritingaid / Whitesmoke / Ginger: In fact, all these sites serve the same purpose. Editing and checking programs that correct grammatical errors and suggest new ones for more striking, clear, and precise writing.

5. Sci-hub: I think I would not be wrong if I said that it is the number one favorite of researchers. With this program, you can open and access articles that charged or cannot be accessed in full text for free.

6. Mindly: Mindly, as an application developed in a way that words fly and write, functions that records every thought that comes to your mind and transforms these thoughts into a map by recording and organizing them.

7. Portent: This site is perfect for content producer writers! You can visit this site when you have trouble finding ideas or titles for your content.

8. Textexpander: If you are constantly writing the same formulas, a thesis with long proper names, or writing emails with the same content, this program will be useful for you if you are in trouble with abbreviations.

9. Wisuwords: A perfect program for writers who love wordplay! It is a colorful, online graphic dictionary that can graphically show the meaning, origin of a word you have written and its relationship with other words, which is very pleasant to tamper with.

10. Canva: Imagine a site that bloggers especially like, creates professional and free designs for you. It is your choice whether you prepare a book cover, personal posters, logo, or resume. You should definitely give this site a chance!

So far, I have told you about 10 sites I use myself. You can sort out the ones that will work for you. Now, let’s come to Google Extensions…

  • Onetab: The perfect extension for those who constantly open new tabs and lose their files in the mess. This extension will work for you, which puts the tabs stuck together in a sequential order.
  • Ngram Viewer: A search engine that allows you to scroll through 400 million words within 5.2 million books. This tool allows you to search for the words you want and also offers a graph showing the distribution over the years.
  • PrintFriendly: A web tool that allows you to print by removing unwanted parts of existing text. In other words, it can print the web page you are viewing as a PDF document without wasting paper, allowing you to trim and edit the right and left before printing.
  • Google Similar Page: As the name suggests, this extension helps you find other ones similar to the page you visited.
  • Picture-in-picture: There may be times when you have to deal with two things at the same time. This extension, which divides your screen in two, can be helpful for you.
  • Panic Button: A tool that hides all tabs with one button at a time.
  • Mercury Reader: A plug-in that creates a sufficient interface to read by deleting the background, font size, and unnecessary things other than the surrounding text of a text you want to read.
  • Evernote Web Clipper: Through this extension, you can assign any page on the internet as text or as a screenshot directly to your notebook, and add notes to file attachments.
  • Pushbullet: An extension that handles file sending most simply and conveniently by establishing a bridge between your devices (phone, tablet, computer).

I have written all the extensions and programs that I have used and found useful in a shortlist. Hope it benefits you too!
